Although I go to bed determined to do a DITL the next morning, it completely slips my mind until I'm checking LJ. Hullo!

I've even already had breakfast. Whey protein and milk. Yeah, I'm super lazy when my wife is out of town.

Rain! And... more rain!

So I dress appropriately.

Including boots because: mud.

Feed the

Lucky buggers are getting food an hour early. If only they knew! But it's time to go.

Necessary semi-artistic photo of rain on the windshield.

Second time check. I have ten minutes before volunteer check in for setting up at the Tucson Festival of Books. Plenty of time.

Even though I parked way on the north of campus.

Some phone photos of the early morning and otherwise empty festival. We mostly checked on signs and re-taped things that were falling down due to the wind & rain overnight.

Beautiful sunrise, not captured very well with the phone camera. I couldn't feel my fingers by this point, either.

We get released a little early, so: time check!

Cats greet me when I get home again.

Some actual evidence that I actually did volunteer and not just wander around taking photos. :P

But I change into something less conspicuous to go back to the festival.

Have some real breakfast because whey protein =/ filling.

Kona helps me select which panels I want to attend.

This is what I'm SUPER EXCITED ABOUT. Because PATRICK ROTHFUSS. OMG.

Then my lack of sleep from the night(s) before catch up and I decide the next two hours are better spent napping. I'm not missing out on any panels anyway.

omg sleep

Upon waking, it's TEA TIME.

Time check and tea and it's time to go.

This event takes up the entire middle of the university, spilling over into the various buildings adjoining for panels & workshops & discussions. It's pretty... big. And free!

Lots of turn out despite the threat of rain.

I attend two panels: one on antiheroes which devolves into a discussion about heroes and one on beauty in fantasy which devolves into a discussion of feminism. The second (the one above) contains a certain bearded author whose books I kind of love a lot.

I head back after the second panel because I'm starving and it's cold and my legs are sore as heck from squatting Friday.

Stop by TJ's for some food necessities.

Spot the most gorgeous and vibrant rainbow on the way home.

I can't be the only one who finds cats just sitting there, waiting when one comes home to be creepy.

Beer & pizza. FTW.

I devour the pizza within seconds, then decide it's past time for a bath to take some of this deep soreness out of my legs. But the bath is icky, so I have to scrub it first.

Much cleaner.

After my bath, I finish my beer and read the Rook (which is REALLY REALLY good so far) for a bit.
Not pictured: talking to the wife on the phone. She tells me about her conference. I tell her about Rothfuss' beard. It's an equal trade.

Due to several nights of less than optimal sleep, I decide to tuck in early. So I feed the cats...

...do a fifteen minute writing sprint...

...and go to bed.
