Another Month, Another Metric

Hello lovelies! It's June, and you know what that means!

Oh, you don't?

Well, that's all right. I sort of just make this all up as I go along anyway.

It's summer! At least, here in the desert it's creeping up into the high nineties. Yuck. So to celebrate - or rather, to keep from losing hope as the heat stretches on and on, endless and tireless - I've designated June/July as the get-shit-done months. And since we'll be stuck inside anyway, some of that time is going to be clean-that-shit days.

Since it looks like Lady and I'll be staying in the apartment we have now for the next few years, I get to kick over into painting/crazy/decorate mode. :D I've not really been able to do that before, because we usually end up moving within a year or two. I will probably be sharing some of that on here, because that's what I do.

But my -main- goal is getting out a new draft zero for the work I'm going to codename When Zombie Assassins Attack, because that sounds so much more awesome than my actual working title. I'm going to spread that out over the months of June/July to keep from burning myself out, and to allow for a few days where I just throw my hands up in the air and yell "fuck it!"

So day one's metric for WZAA (which I am mentally pronouncing as "WAZAA!!", just fyi), in which there are, in fact, zombie assassins, but there are also thieves and gods and ghost cities and erstwhile conspirators and - coming soon! - corpses and pirates and treason and barbarians, not necessarily together:

DECORATING!! YEAH!!

I used to have the same problem of moving to often to really settle into a place, but finally for my last three years of college I was in the same apartment and I could paint and everything.

I've been cooking up ideas for decorating that don't involve major changes, since I'm not sure I'm allowed to paint in this place. I know I'll be here at least one more year....

I'm still surprised we're allowed to paint in our place. So many apts were completely anti-painting.

Here in New Zealand, I will be hosting "June/July: Get Shit Done--The Winter Version". Like your 8-week long event, mine too will be spent indoors, evading the rain and wind and 4 degree Celsius temps.

Goals: Complete erotic-fantasy novel (aka: elf porn); make as many versions of tomato/minestrone soup as possible; and cross-stitch like it's going out of style.

Sigh...I don't what's worse--unbearable desert heat or unbearable rain and cold. Extra bonus points to anyone, clutched in the frenzy of extreme cabin fever, who manages to transcend the mind and body and gains eternal enlightenment :D

You know, as often as I try to remember people are on other time-zones/cultures/etc, I still forget that NZ and Australia are on opposite seasons. I will gladly trade you 4 degrees C for our 40 degrees C. :O
...but maybe not the rain. Rain always makes cold so much worse. Brr.
