Quick update, because the idea of a long update has been rather dissuasive. Been working a lot the last few days (and Sunday) to make up for going to AZ tomorrow and Friday. Kind of excited, even though we'll only be there for one day and Lady will be pretty busy most of the time.

What is more exciting, though, is that Lady has an interview with OR at the end of the month. OSU is the place we were both excited about to begin with and the one with the most opportunities for Lady. Since it's apparently only a four hour drive, I'll be going with her.

She goes to Michigan next week - we haven't heard back from Riverside, Davis or Ohio State yet, but that's all right.

Been failing miserably at my writing goals (although I switched stories last night and churned out more in a half hour than I'd written total on the other one in two weeks - go fig), but I made my reading goal for January. Finished Accelerando and Breathers (and two photography books which totally count), on All You Need is KILL, which I got for free quite a few months back. Maybe I can do some summaries later today. Not this morning. Time for work already. How is that, when I get up so early?

Tucson - Lady is interviewing at Arizona State.
Where are you located? I always pictured you further north, but I don't actually know. xp

I think you mean at the U of A. Arizona State is in Phoenix and has the cut-rate grad. programs in Plant sciences. :)

AZ State, U of AZ... they're so easy to confuse. I think many of the other places Lady applied to were State universities, so I just assumed AZ was, too. >>

Either way. Tucson!!!1 Very exciting. I hear there're mountains? Deserts? Zoos?

I am. ^^ I'm about two hours north of Tucson, just south of Phoenix. I haven't even visited down there yet, but I really want to - I hear it's pretty and there is lots to do. :3 We're planning on heading there soon. Have fun, if you have time~

It was interesting. A little tough to get into - possibly because I don't read very much scifi anymore, possibly because the plot wasn't entirely easy to discern at first. But I did enjoy it, even if some of it was a bit dense and the emphasis was much more on the science than the characterization.

Corvallis has nice surroundings, and has relatively easy access to Salem, Eugene and Newport. Theoretically, it's a four hour drive from Seattle, but it seems there almost always are slow stretches through Tacoma, Olympia and Portland, so allow some extra time.
