Last week was rough.

Lady finally went to the doctor and was just starting to feel better when Smol Doore decided to spend the night throwing up. Then I was hit by... whatever virus this is... and started dragging hardcore. But because I wasn't feverish/coughing, I tried to push through, even though it felt like pushing through a leaded blanket. Still, I usually take little 20min power naps (comes with getting up so damn early), but when those naps became 1-2 hour unconscious-athons, I knew I must have caught the bug, too.

Then Cabin Girl woke up early Sunday morning complaining about a headache and sore throat and had a fever by midday. She napped, too, which she never does. Poor thing was so pathetic, but also it's been a solid year or more since she's been sick so I'm not surprised.

Anyway, between all that, I didn't write or crossfit at all last week. I barely managed to dayjob; thank goodness for work from home, omfg. I can never go back to an office, or at least non-hybrid, sitch after this.

Okay, that isn't entirely true; I did attempt crossfit on Thursday, which was the first hint that I actually was sick because I dragged so bad through the entire workout. Like, so bad the coach noticed.

I wasn't sure if I'd go today or not, but I only needed one nap yesterday and my alarm went off this morning and I didn't feel like absolute trash and then I glanced at the workout and saw it was deadlift and sprints and went, "I can do that."

And I did. I actually wiped the floor with the other dudes on the sprints, which surprised me, too, hah. And it'd been a while since I deadlifted, so that felt good to get back to.

Anyway, that's not just to gloat, but to reinforce my previous choices of a) not doing workouts when I really feel like crap and b) not doing workouts that will probably hurt me. I skipped last Monday's workout, for instance, back when I wasn't yet sick, because it was insane. Like, dangerously so. So I didn't do it. And I felt a little guilty, and a little weak. But because I didn't break myself on it, I was able to really go balls-to-the-walls on this one.

And it felt good.

So here's to continuing to listen to my instincts and body. Weird, but effective.
