First off: thank you for all the congrats last week! I will definitely continue to do DITLs, although I bet it won't get interesting in that regard for a while yet. ;)

In which our heroine wakes up pretty late, has a surprise!pennywhistle on her couch, snuggles with cacti, and watches somebody else in pain. Warnings: Tattoo-ing process, including pictures of the studio, the tattooening, and the tattoo-ee without a shirt.




Mornin'



Start coffee.



Blurry time check.



A wild pennywhistle awakens!



I coffee and internet.



So does pennywhistle.



Kona comes to visit.



A wild Lady appears!



Darjeeling is... uncertain.



I make a to-do list.



Shower.



Breakfast.



Feed sharks cats.



Fill the water pack.



Marvel at pennywhistle's color coordination.



Head out.



We are excited to arrive at the trail head.



Sun has just come up, so the light is still warmly delicious.



Be proper hikers and sign in.



Hmm. Which way?



It is Decided.












Uugh it's too pretty.



The best part of this trail are the multiple gaping pits leftover from old mines.



Lady thinks she sees a popcorn flower, but it isn't flowering yet.



Seasonally appropriate prickly pear is seasonally appropriate. <3



I trail behind as we start heading back.



Now that the sun is fully up, layers start coming off.



Back to the start!



Brief stop at a nearby library so Lady can go to a meeting. We run errands while she luxuriates in the presence of books.



When we pick her up, I make her drive.



Stop at the front office to pick up packages.



Home again!



Opening of zee packages.



Lady's mom sent us socks from Sock Dreams - she knows what we love.



Caaaaaaaaat.




Luuuunch




Lady models the clothes she got in her Stitch Fix box while we lunch.



Fed and watered (and packages opened), we're ready to head out again.



Time check!



Lady is very excited to finally finish her tattoo! This is the third session, and all of them have been veeerry long, but she is dedicated. The other tattoo artists have nicknamed her the Beast.



Table time!



The first few hours aren't too bad.



Break halfway through for ice cream.



Back to work.



Finally after five and a half hours, the whole tattoo is done!



It gets some vaseline before being covered in protective plastic wrap.



Time check. I drive us home because Lady is pooped.



Home again!



Dinner time.



Salmon and cream cheese cucumbers for me.



Set the chicken broth going before I forget again.



Caaaaaaaaaaat.



We cuddle on the couch to introduce pennywhistle to the Great British Baking Show.



I pass out shortly after. Long day. G'night!

oh man, i love stitch fix and had that same new college shirt as lady, until i spilled bleach on it :(

do you guys have an Elantra? look! another item i have that you have too!

I don't have that completely badass tattoo though. it is incredibly cool.

Stitch fix high five!! It's such a cool concept, although I expected a little bit more hits than we've gotten.
It's a Sonata, which looks a lot like an Elantra, so yes, we basically have the same car. 2006, I think?

Thanks! I know - the desert is so crazy different and beautiful. Sometimes it's hard to remember that most of the rest of the world is covered in trees.
