I did a thing! It hurt a lot. But I didn't scream or cry. I just gave everyone who tried to talk to me the Murder Face.

But they (see: pennywhistle and the Internet) are not kidding when they say ankle tats hurt like fuck. Wow. I had to look down a couple of times just to be certain the artist hadn't switched tools on me and wasn't actually digging out my flesh with a tiny grapefruit spoon. Fuuuck.

This isn't completely out of the blue, although I realize I've never really talked about it here(?). I've wanted a tattoo for the last 6-8 years, but only this one specifically since last summer. It was one of those things where once I stumbled across the idea, I was like YES THIS, THIS IS PERFECT. And then I waited 6 months to be sure. :)

Actually, I would have kept waiting, but Lady was on the ball about getting her tattoo done and her artist is rad, so I just went ahead and got mine when Lady got hers. Well, her line art. Because Lady is hardcore and getting a full back piece. Mine seems so tame in comparison!

I love them!! I'm still deciding on a tattoo. I turn 40 next year, I better figure it out.

My main advice is trust your instinct as to placement and design. And pain is temporary. Oh, and really spend time looking for an artist. But you probably know all that. :)
Cant' wait to see what you decide on!
