Last night as I was uploading photos from our bat watching, I realized I hadn't actually created a photo folder for April yet. Here we are, several days away from May, and I apparently haven't taken a single photo in April. This has to change. I need to go out and take more photos. I just don't know when. :/

Oh time management, how you continue to elude me. I wish the most that the internet at work were better, because then I could at least use my breaks to write my LJ posts or catch up on FB etc. But alas, they block everything and their mother, even on their public wifi, so the general internet catch-up is relegated to the end of the day, which often means not at all.

But I suppose it's a blessing in disguise, because then I have less distractions on my breaks and I can get even more writing in. Between work and strength class and crossfit and cooking, I've been shoving writing into every little crack and actually making some progress. Page 53/183, bitches. I might finish this before I get married. Might.

Speaking of writing, I've been reading more fantasy to get an idea of the current market and keep being horribly disappointed. This is the worst season of reading I've had in quite a while - almost everything I've read this year has been either so-so or utter shit. Except for a few gleaming outliers, of course, like John Green's Fault in Our Stars and Cherie Priest's Hellbent. But every time I pick something up by an unknown author and go "oh, this sounds interesting," it turns out to be horribly disappointing. I don't get it. Is it me? Am I too picky? Or do I just have terrible luck right now? At this point, all I want is a fantastic fantasy, or just one that has decent characters and a believable plot. I know how hard it is to write - and polish and publish - a book, but is that really too much to ask?

Anyway, now that I'm hopped up on caffeine I'd better go get dressed. We're doing the Warrior Dash today in Florence, and I'm just starting to get a bit nervous. There will be mud and barbed wire and barriers and fire, but it looks like fun.
