spryng: (books)
- Despite being carless for the past two days, we had a pretty eventful weekend. Lady made food from the family cookbook she's putting together on Saturday and friends came to help eat it up. :) And I got to hang with [livejournal.com profile] the_verb like a boss. We also figured out that we picked our place of habitation well, for both grocery stores are within two miles. So we walked to one and ran to the other. We might do that more often - at least when we have time Sunday mornings. It's still a long trip.

- I think I've figured out that merely having a goal to write every day is insufficient. Since mid-November, I've cranked out maybe 10k, which pales in comparison to what I was doing in September/October. Now I just have to settle on what that goal should be. 500? 750? Maybe 800. Yeah, 800 sounds good.

- It's been almost six months of no-poo for me, two for Lady. I guess third time really was a charm. I still have some weirdly super-greasy days, but that was the case when I used shampoo, too. My hair is just crazy oily, but now sometimes it's also fluffy. Also I henna-ed my hair way back in the summer and it STILL has color. Wow. That is epic. 'Course now I also have roots showing. It's fine.

- I've decided to do the paleo autoimmune protocol (AIP) come January. It's kind of like the Whole30, but a whole lot more restrictive. But this rash I've had for over a year is still spreading and going to the doctor and getting a biopsy yielded absolutely nothing. Well, except that apparently it's inflammation. No duh. Anyway, aside from tanking my opinion of the medical industry, it also strengthened my resolve to try the AIP, even though it will SUCK.
I was still going to put it off for who-knows-when, but then the rash spread to below one of my eyes and that is NOT OKAY. All over my stomach? Fine. On my wrist? Whatever. Armpit? Weird, but I'm still not concerned. Under eyelid? NO.
January is a good time, at least - ideal in that it's after all the major food holidays and just about all the most delicious things I'll miss are out of season (like tomatoes). It's apparently best to do a full 60 days of it, but I think I'll aim for 30 and see how that feels. If nothing has changed by then, I can ditch it and maybe start summoning spirits to get rid of this goddamn rash instead.
Fucking rash.
On my eye.
Wtf.

- AIP means no coffee or tomatoes or eggs or cumin or dairy or nuts. But at least I can still have avocados and sweet potatos! When I turn orange, you'll know why.

- BOOKS. God, I love books. I need to do one of those massive book review posts soon, since it's the end of the year. I have a lot of recommendations this year.

- AIP will also be good to figure out any problem foods prior to getting gaybied. I've been slowly cutting down on my coffee and excess sugar intake anyway, and ramping up the greens. Still don't know how I feel about prenatals. :/

- It got COLD. Wtf, desert?
