Tuesday Evening Thoughts
Mar. 19th, 2013 08:17 pm- Was in class all last week, hence radio silence hereabouts. Class is for level 1 appraiser, so it's all sorts of dull things like what an appraiser does and how an appraiser appraises. They will be several more of these week-long classes spread out between now and June, but it gets us out of the office and it's something different so I say: bring it.
- I'm pretty sure my query is done, but now I'm dicking about with my synopsis. Lady has to get her comp exam done by Thursday, so I have likewise set myself a hard deadline for edits and my syn. I want to be submitting by Monday, dammit.
- Um, wow. I think that's about it. Class and writing. And I have a test to take Thursday for this property tech position which I am all but certain I will get. Which is - hoorah! - more complicated things than I am doing now and - hoorah^2! - more money than I am making now. I like money. Not more than I've ever made (that secretary position was cushy), but has potential for it. If the county ever gives raises again, that is.
- Writing writing writing: I have decided to ditch OIBM for now and instead focus on Sen, which is where all my mental energy has been trying to drag me anyway. I think it is time to get that story down and right now I have a very broad timeframe of getting most of it down before 2014. My current gameplan is to take April & May and push out 100k+ words for the first book, then take June to rest and plan and reevaluate (and go hiking). Ideally, I would then do another 100k+ over August & September, pause in October, then a last ditch effort in November & December, but we'll have to see. Sen is a pretty freaking big project, bigger than anything else I've written or tried to write, and the sheer vastness of it kind of boggles my mind if I try and pin it down any further. But I also feel ready to tackle that kind of project. It's epic fantasy, man. It's going to be... epic.
- Aaand we're hightailing it for San Diego this weekend to visit family and sweep our toes through the ocean.
