Aug. 11th, 2008 06:28 pmLet's see. These last few days have been slightly exciting. Also, we've been here a week! Woot!
In short:
- Got in with the temping agency on Thursday.
- Made a friend on the bus on the way home. A homeless man who is now homeless by choice and fighting for his people. Seemed like he came straight from New College, too.
- Speaking of NCF, I feel like I just keep seeing typical NCF students on the street and buses here. They have the clothes, they have the look, it's downright eerie sometimes. I wonder if I'm just not used to seeing so many people under the age of 55...
- Tried to go hiking on Friday, ended up busting my finger and fainting. x.X Went to Discovery Park instead and walked the beach.
- Spent most of the day chillin' Saturday but did end up walking around the neighborhood during the five-minute downpour. I really have good timing sometimes.
- That and we went to the bookstore and got a book detailing the local hikes Saturday night, finally got some clothes hangers, and spent the rest of the evening putting away clothes so that the bedroom is finally free of boxes.
- Actually went hiking on Sunday on Little Si and even though it was a tiny hill compared to Mount Si, we both ended up sore and worn out by the time we made it back to the car. But man, it was beautiful.
- Today we met up with Lady's friend of MN, Amber, and spent the day mostly chillin', but also got more frozen yoghurt, delicious coffee, and walked around the UW campus. There were Canadian geese who had decided to claim the fountain as their own as well as baby ducks. Besides, today was gorgeous. Still is.
- And last, but not least, and actually not last, because it happened while we were out in the U District, I got a call from the temping agency and now I have a 8-5 job starting tomorrow. That... was probably the second easiest job search ever. And the first doesn't really count since all I did was go back to Publix. Man. All I did was submit one resume, talk to someone and take some tests and I have a job. I just hope the job turns out all right. It's not perm, obviously, but it's "long-term" and will go through at least October. I'll be doing mostly data entry, processing loan and foreclosure documents. Not the most exciting thing, but I have a job!
So yup. Exciting.
