Aug. 6th, 2008 12:46 pmNeed a new LJ layout. Any suggestions?
In other news: we have furniture! Namely, kitchen table + chairs, a bed, a small dresser (probably will need another one, but this works for now), a small bookshelf, two small lamps, one floor lamp, a TV stand, a TV, and a squishy chair. I'll probably take pictures later tonight after getting rid of the last random stuff in the living room. We still need a sofa, but I've been scouring craigslist every morning for something cheap/free and with a person willing to deliver. That's the biggest problem with the sofa, is that there's no way we could fit one in Lady's car. Thankfully craigslist gets a lot of entries in this area, so there's been a few close possibilities, usually either too expensive, too ratty, or without the willing delivery person. Eventually something will come up.
But man, the apartment looks much better with furniture. Also helps that most of the boxes and things have been taken apart and organized in the closet. Now I can fill the dresser, too. And the bookshelf. Very exciting. Still need coat hangers, though. Maybe we'll go back to Goodwill tomorrow. We've been to the two closest, one of which was a happening place on Sunday - much more happening than I've ever seen a Goodwill in Sarasota. That and practically every shopper was white and under the age of 30. Damn hippies. Took all the good furniture. So yesterday we went to one a little up north and it was the fanciest Goodwill ever. Very clean, very well lit, with even some new things in the front. That's where we got the squishy chair which even the service people helping us called "the squishy chair." It eats people. I'm starting to feel that having something that eats people is necessary for an apartment. Ooh, but it's so squishy.
I have an interview with the temp agency tomorrow morning. Today we are going to take the bus downtown so that it's not so new and scary tomorrow. Because I am soon to be Bus Lady. Hopefully I can even get a pass today. Also need shoes, since my work shoes are rather ratty and well, more utilitarian than nice-looking. I already got some new clothes for work (some of which were Ana brand <3).
Also, the coffee here is better than I could remember. SO GOOD. We walked around the University area yesterday and got coffee and frozen yogurt (is good idea!). I love you for your coffee, Seattle. While over in the UD we also glimpsed Mt. Rainier way off in the distance. That is one freaking huge mountain, by the way. Wikipedia says you can see it from Portland on clear days. It's been clear and sunny here, too. Not a speck of rain. Beautiful. Although I would rather enjoy a little rain, but I know I shouldn't start wishing too soon. There'll be about eleven months of that soon.
