Aug. 2nd, 2008 09:49 amWashington! We made it last night (last evening this timezone). Finally no more Montana. I think yesterday was the hardest day because not only was it the last long haul, after another long haul, and most of it was just the one state, but because it was mountains, which, although real pretty, have steep inclines and the poor car's been struggling with all our stuff since the not-so-steep inclines of Georgia. So on particularly bad hills when the speedometer started dropping like crazy and there was no longer any point in trying to floor it (that just kicked it down a gear and made the car make horrible noises while attempting to redline while not actually helping), we'd both just lean forward and start making encouraging noises at it. I would like to believe that helped.
We made it out of the mountains quite suddenly, although there should still be mountains to come later this morning. Mt. Rainier and what-not. The ones that border Seattle. And then a crazy-hectic afternoon of stuff. Hopefully ending with internet, food, and a place to sleep besides the floor tonight.
I got lots of pictures of the mountains, so those'll go up on facebook tonight, too. Maybe I'll put a few which are good on here, too. Most were taken while driving, so, not the best pictures in the world. I just wanted to capture an idea of what we were driving through, for the most part. So much corn!
