Well, today I was going hit the 5am crossfit class, then walk the kids to school instead of bike because it was literally freezing this morning. Then I was going to grab the groceries I'd missed earlier in the week, then come home and pick up all the toys, put away the dishes, and run a load of laundry. After that, I was going to put my desk into stand-up mode and figure out this request at work. Then I'd go for a lovely midday walk in the sun, maybe pick up a library book, before reading some of the pages sent over ahead of the writing group meet-up at 3pm. I'd come back from writing group a little early in order to pick up the kids and prepare dinner ahead of my mother-in-law arriving tonight.

Instead, Toddler was up at 3am, 4am, and so I decided to reschedule to the 10am crossfit class. I did manage to walk the kids to school--and get there on time!--and grab groceries, only to return and discover Dr Lady had a fever. Because she's immune compromised, we decided to get her tested for flu post-haste, in case she's still in the window for Tamiflu. 3 hours waiting in a walk-in clinic later, she finally gets her test and it's... fucking COVID??? What. Both of us are absolutely floored.

Well fuck. Okay. So now she's on the phone with her doctor to get Paxlovid and I'm letting writing group know I won't make it and I already missed the 10am crossfit. And then I collapse for 2 hours because I've been up since 3am (thanks Toddler) and now it's 3pm and literally I've done nothing I was going to do today. And we're waiting to hear back from her mom as to whether she's staying in a hotel or with my parents.

I blame it all on signing up for the 5am crossfit last night, instead of waiting for this morning. I swear, I'm curse. Only half joking.

Anyway, this is really only 1/4 whining, mostly I'm just amused at how much I'd planned, only for it all to come crashing down. I just hope we can get her Paxlovid today, and that it's a mild case of COVID. Because it sure is a lot scarier when your immune system is suppressed. :/
