It happened! We got married! ...again! This time in a courtroom on a windy day in June with just some (or rather most) of Lady's family. We found the judge after roaming up and down the floors and she was super excited and enthused and it was just a pleasant experience. Now we get to wait patiently by our mail box until the county sends us our copy. The judge has to send it to the county first, then the county has to do some weird county magic, then we get ours. We'll be all certified and legal and - well, not really all that different.

We arrived Wednesday in time to celebrate her sister's (my sister-in-law) actual birthday. Mostly we napped, but then I decided the very least we could do was bake her a proper cake, so we cobbled together a chocolate cake out of what she had in her kitchen and it was good.

Thursday was the wedding. We spent the morning at the Mall of America, though, because Lady needed shirts and Eddie Bauer usually has things wot look good on her and aren't stupid (i.e., requiring a separate shirt to be purchase to wear beneath just so people can't see your tits). They closed the only store in our area, so she has been languishing, shirtless, for months.

Also the MoA has Caribou and I freaking love that chain coffee store. They have turtles. On their menu. I mean. It's like they know my most deeply held desires.

On Friday we celebrated my mother-in-law's (slightly belated) 60th. The SIL set up a whole at-home spa treatment thing, complete with cucumber water, face scrubs, toenail polish, and a vibrating foot wash massager... thing.

Even our niece got in on the relaxation. Well, the fun for her. Apparently she has a thing for water and will just play for hours in the sink if you let her. She is ridiculous.

The spa thing was a pretty neat idea. I wish I could do that with my mom. Kinda difficult when she's in a whole other state and I don't have a convenient sibling to host it. Oh well.

After the spa we got on a paddle boat and cruised up and down a nearby river for a bit.

When we first clambered on, we were greeted by a great gaggle of babushkas, all with covered hair and matching outfits. I felt like I'd stepped back into Petersburg, what with the rustle of Russian throughout the room. It was actually pretty soothing, and at one point as we neared the drawbridge, they burst out into song. When we mentioned it to their tour guide later, he said that that was a good sign.

We dropped the birthday girl off for a massage afterwards, then Lady and I made her a brownie cake with extra chocolate chips and caramel sauce. It was kind of decadent.

Saturday we met up with the father-in-law for a pre-Father's Day brunch, then finally flew home. So between birthdays and weddings and father's day, it was quite a busy few days.
