So many things!

I got a fisheye lens (FINALLY) after three years of wanting and coveting. I'd ordered one, actually, three years ago, after we first moved to Tucson, but returned it because - being the doofus I am - I'd gotten the wrong one for my camera. The shop through which I'd bought it gave me credit, but then told me I'd have to actually call them to use it on a new order. So of course I put it off and put it off and put it off (and put it off) because calling is scary.

But we're going to the Grand Canyon in early May, so I needed my fisheye. So I finally sucked up my courage and called. And a few days later - voila!

Fisheye Chickens

I love it very much.

I also got myself a standing desk. Well. Made myself one. Using Ikea furniture. It's, uh, not the most earthquake-friendly thing, but it stands, and it's just the perfect height. I talked a lot more about it over at the blog, but suffice it to say that I love love love it. I've already noticed that I'm tons more productive standing - something about shifting from foot to foot makes me hyper aware of the time I'm wasting when I'm farting around online.

I also finally henna-ed my hair and I'm feeling pretty. So I'll leave you with this inexplicable image of a mental war between me and a tree knubule. Not a fisheye photo, but I think you'll forgive me.

It's pretty simple. I use a powder version you can get from any foodie store. It's basically powdered henna + hot water + lemon juice or apple cider vinegar (helps it bind to lighter and gray hairs), then you glop the resultant paste onto your head, careful to use gloves. Let it sit for at least an hour, preferably two, then rinse. The glop can stain porcelain and tile and stuff, so you have to be careful about flinging it about when you put it in your hair, but otherwise the process seems easier than chemical dyes. It also smells strongly of herbs for about a day. :)
