Morning happens and we're already dressed before I've grabbed the camera.

Lady shows off the shirt my mom got her for her birthday last week.

Go to make the coffee and there is a person!! on our couch!! Still asleep!!! So we tiptoe around a bit.

Then slink outside to walk and drink coffee and watch the sunrise.

We stop by our friend Doug's beau's place to take care of some fish while they're gone for the weekend.

The beau started up a salt water tank semi-recently, and it needs lots of loving care.

We feed and give Doug's bird attention, too.

Then back out, the sun is fully up. Gorgeous clouds this morning - should mean it's a nice day.

Apparently the

I download and transfer a new audiobook while

Lady makes banana pancakes.

Super yummy and weirdly fluffy, considering they're just egg, almond flour, and banana.

It's Sunday, which means cooking day, so I get started on the spaghetti squash.

Clean up the roasted pumpkin seeds left over from last night's pumpkin party.

Eat pancakes and stare soulfully into the cat's eyes.

Our friend notices that our shirts are similarly themed today.

We have some leftover pumpkin pie for breakfast, too. Because why not.

Our friend earns her couch rent by harassing the cats.

We leave her behind and run out to grab our meat CSA share from the farmer's market.

Obligatory shadow portrait! It's been too long.

The market is bustling as always.

Meat share!

Clean the sink so the meats can thaw.

Then head out - again - for some last minute groceries, chickens, and garden.

Groceries.

Garden. What would have been a lovely photo of okra and Lady if she hadn't blinked. Whoops.

They're putting in a fence around the community garden and I guess they figured it would be funny to start with this. I was a civilized gardener and used the gate.

What's left of our garden. Winding down our monsoon crops in favor of cold season things. We're pulling out the watermelon today, leaving just sweet potato and okra for another week or two.

Those melons just weren't getting any bigger. :/

Then it's off to chickens, to give them some of those unripe melons.

And pumpkin guts from pumpkin carving and pie making yesterday.

We trimmed Crosby's beak a little, too. Of course after the wise decision to feed them pumpkin first.

Somebody decided to take up residence in a nestbox while we were there so we had to wait to grab our eggs.

Well worth waiting for!

Pay our egg rent...

Then home again. We open what we think is the ripest watermelon and are wholly underwhelmed. :/ Better plant those watermelons a good month earlier next year.

I perform my daughterly duties. ;)

Long cat is long and shares the floor with me while I chat.

Time to start cooking.

Meatballs.

Fortification.

Then our friend returns with laundry and a cat! We're testing to see how our cats react to a new cat, in the possible eventuality of said friend taking up residence in our spare room when her lease runs out. Cats react mostly with lots of staring, hissing, and fit-throwing. No actual violence though, which is a relief.

The possible border cat in question. She seemed right at ease most of the time, at least.

I make cookies - the same kind as last week because they're just easy and tasty.

Friend helps make pumpkin chili.

Mix together and spread out the granola to dry overnight.

Shove cookies into a jar to keep from eating them all at once.

Lady had stepped out for a bit to finish garden stuff, but now she's back and we relax and watch her work.

Or rather, we write.

Then Lady skypes with her mom and sister and niece.

Have chili for dinner and go outside to enjoy the incredibly nice weather and sunset.

I find a wall and stand on it.

Lady is very excited about this pear.

She does some more kitchen stuff. Herbs, mostly.

I stare forlornly at the laundry, lost, alone, and tired.

Fading fast, I climb into bed and try to do some more writing.

But don't last long before passing out. Good night!
