Mornin'. Hair is behaving more often these days. Must be getting too long. :P

Shower time.

Kona helps wake up Lady.

Coffee's done!

Get dressed. Lady is not quite awake.

Showing off her new shows - and how happy she is to be awake at this hour. :)

Head out.

Where could we be?

Picking up a

...and harassing her cat.

We arrive at our destination. There are already a ton of cars. :/
Not pictured: the hill we're about to climb because it's too dark and my camera can't handle darkness.

Pictured: Weird cloud formation. We decided it must be aliens.

Make it to the top of the hill just around sunrise. But because of all the clouds, it's a little hard to tell.

We find some seats and sit and watch everything slowly grow brighter, enjoying our scones and the wind. It's just so nice up there.

On the way back down the hill, the sun breaks out and illuminates some of the Rincon mountains.

Still a lot of people are heading up.

Time check.

Home again. Not pictured: dropping off

Feed the cats, who are indignant at being fed late.

Make breakfast and internet around a little bit.

Write out cake recipe so I can figure out what I still need from the store.

Stay current on my dental hygiene.

Aaaand take a nap. Because neither of us went to bed at a decent hour last night.

Wake up and make some iced coffee.

And mix together some hummingbird food.

Aaaand harass this cat.

After waking up, we head out again.

First to pick up cake supplies.

Then to the garden.

Lady puzzles over the new compost system. There's a sign that asks that only "vegetable matter" be put in, so we're a little lost. We'd been composting our kitchen scraps as well, but it sounds like they want to keep it exclusively from the garden.

Our garden! My how it's grown. There's basil and watermelon and amaranth and pumpkin and a squash plant that will probably take over the world.

After garden, we head to Lady's lab.

Where she does some Science.

Then to the sausage shop.

To pick up our twenty pounds of bacon. Omg. It's the best bacon. It's sugar-free, so you have to special order it, and therefore order that many pounds at a time, but it's so worth it.

Fill up the hummingbird feeder.

Lady makes a little bacon for lunch.

I just have leftovers.

Lady tries to do some work, but is harassed by a cat.

And I get to work on the cake.

They're done, but they look a little... funny. :/

I work on the lemon curd that will go between the cake layers.

Kona inspects the eggshells Lady has been collecting for the chickens.

While the curd and cakes are cooling, we head out to check on the chickens.

They're nestled in our coach's backyard in a coop that took us about two weeks of evenings and weekends to build.

Should probably get a lock...

Chickens! Our pullets are about 4-5 months old, and typically this breed starts laying around 6 months, so we should see some eggs in the next four to six weeks.

Chickens.

Chickens.

After a failed attempt to capture one, they all flee under the coop.

So we toss the scraps under there. Apples and tortilla and pieces of tamale.

They're little garbage disposals, pretty much.

Chickens are hours of entertainment.

Back in the car and time check. Not pictured, an excursion to Fascinations that

Home again.

I set to working on the meringue while Lady and

The cake is apparently acceptable.

We continue watching live action Sailor Moon while eating cake.

Then we clean up the kitchen and time check.

I cross off things on my to-do list for the week and weekend.

And draw up a grocery list for tomorrow morning. Lady audits it. :P

Feed cats and snag a photo of the elusive Darj'.

Lady crushes eggshells because she can't help herself.

And then it's bedtime at a semi-reasonable hour. G'night!
