Thoughts on a Lunch Break, XII
May. 28th, 2013 12:40 pm- So. So. Sleepy.
- This weekend was good. Saturday I spent most of the day chilling and sleeping and trying to get rid of all the grumps I'd accumulated over the week. We did our hypertrophy homework and I didn't snap at anyone. Sunday was Cook All the Things (TM) and a photoshoot with
the_verb, which was good and fun and man, I need to hike in Catalina state park around sunset. Gorgeous.
- Monday was best. We went for our walk and then we spent three hours at Panera's, hashing out the details for our hike. Everything seems a lot more realistic and attainable now. Also, the internet is amazing. I mapped out the entire trek, with markers for where we would be staying each night. What did people do before the internet? Use maps, I guess. Bah.
- Then we made gluten free angel food cake and grilled meats and went swimming at Doug's. The cake was bomb. It tasted like real cake and I couldn't tell it was gf at all. Came out splendid, especially after all those damn egg whites. I swear. Egg whites hate me. But it also gave me an idea for super fluffy gf bread in the future. So I guess I'll have to learn how to conquer egg whites.
- Also people. I love people.
- Then we went to hypertrophy class right afterwards and came home at like 9.30 and now I'm exhausted, despite a weekend of relaxing and sleep and relaxing. Damn.
- USPS is stupid. I sent a package to my parents for my dad's birthday with their address written prominently on the label and the city & zip inputted to pay for the postage so it said RIDGE quite large on said label AND YET SOMEHOW it got sent to our address. The fuck? I am so pissed. I want to support the postal service but our local branch is pretty idiotic. They keep giving us mail for other addresses and names and I've heard from a few people mail I've sent never reached them and things they've sent us never got to us. :/ I don't know what complaining will do, but when I can finally pick up our package from the front office (who was closed all weekend, go fig), I'm going to have a chat with someone. :/
- Been three weeks gluten free. For some reason I'm actually sticking to it relatively easy this time around and I'm seeing progress where I hoped (feared) I might. It may take another month to heal completely, at which point I'll have to decide just what to do. I don't know if I'm ready to go gluten free for reals, all the time, although the gf baking over the last few months has helped and convinced me it would be possible. It's just such a non-immediate problem that for some reason it's harder to justify. I still want to wait until it's cleared up for sure before I make any real decision, but so far, it's looking like I do have a problem with gluten. :/
- Four-day week + class next week + Hadrian's Wall right after that = June = what = omg it's going to be July if I blink -
