Start out bright & early, like usual.

Hair taming commences.

And is successful.

Fill up the camelpak.

Wake up the Lady.

Intake of coffee.

And depart!

Time check - we're a little slow in departing. :/

The sun is pretty much up by the time we get to the trail head. :<

Lady don't care.

At least the shade persists for a while.

Trail of choice for the morning.

I love well-signposted trails.

Also mornings.

It's officially spring: the cacti are in bloom.

Noooo, sun! Stay back!

Soon we are nothing but burnt crisps.

Can you spot the wildlife?

We pause long enough to partake of gf blueberry muffins (recipe definitely needs tweaking), then decide it's time to turn around.

That's our trail! ...way up there...

I finally spot a saguaro blossom within camera reach. Hoorah!

Can you spot the wildlife?

I'll give you a hint.

An even bigger hint.

Finally spot the car. Or, well, a car.

Time check. Three hour hike - not bad.

I ignore their keen wails to call mom. Because, well, it's mom's day. We only talk for a little bit though because my brother also calls. :P

Time for second breakfast, aka smoothie, aka mostly spinach.

See? Doesn't look like spinach.

Also start the main Sunday event: cooking!

This is for the chorizo-avocado-sweet potato thing I had last week. SO GOOD. I would make a hundred of them if I could and eat them all the time.

It's also finally that time of year: iced coffee season!

Rinse (and chop) some cilantro.

Take a break to input one of the recipes into Daily Plate. Lady and I are starting a strength/hypertrophy program with our gym, which also includes a diet element. (For now at least) we can't go over 50g of fat and 130g of carbs a day and are supposed to aim for 140g of protein. The most difficult part is getting the fat that far down. And apparently remembering to eat carbs. :)
Foods are starting to get done!

Take another break to offload photos so I can post the pic of the gila monster to FB.

Oh hey, time check and confirmation that we're watching Doctor Who later.

Lora drops by unexpectedly, fresh off her shift working in a crepe truck.

She also tries to abscond with a cat. She is foiled.

Meanwhile, cooking is still happening.

Weighin' some chicken.

Not pictured, throwing together gluten free brownies. Pictured, an empty bowl of chocolate and a guilty Lora. Hmmm.

Lady tries one of our many food items of the day and it is good.

BROWNIES!!!!

WITH ICE CREAM!
...is it obvious our diet started the next day?

Partaking happens.

Lora has to eat brownies and run, then we watch the newest episode of Doctor Who. Which is the best ep of this season, IMHO, but that is really not saying much.

Full brownie satiation.

Then it's on to live action Sailor Moon, which is a special treat unto itself.

Weigh all the foods and enter them into Daily Plate so I can just stuff my face at will the next day.

Oooooh. Well, okay then.

Then it's pretty much time to pass out. Good night!
