Happy Christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2012 06:06 amSitting here just before 6am, waiting for the dough to double in size. Kona's kneading her pillow and purring like an engine, Darjeeling is sitting in the kitchen and watching me, waiting for food. Lady's asleep. The happy lights are on. There's a 35lb kettlebell in front of the office door to keep the cats from scratching at it. Wearing a robe even though it's too warm for that. Finishing my sleepy time/throat tamer tea because I appear to have a sore throat.
Enjoying the quiet.
I have learned a lot about hosting family over the last few days and I will never take for granted time spent at someone else's house again. Who knew I could still plumb new depths of knowledge about my family just by being the primary one cooking and cleaning up after them? At least they've gotten better about not having to spend every second of the day with us, so we can have a little downtime. It's also really good to see this much of my grandma; I don't usually see her and I know I haven't infinite time left with her.
As I told lady on Sunday, after this visit, I will be full up on family for a while.
