Gale Woods Farm at Dusk
On our very very first night in MN we ran straight over to the farm to get a sense of the space and what we could do with it. This was actually the first time we saw the inside of the barn. It's definitely one thing to see it on paper and another to actually see it.

Mom fell in love with it while we were there which was very re-assuring.
(As I'm typing all this, all these things that I remember being SUCH A BIG DEAL before the wedding seem so trivial now. One of these things was how the hell we were going to decorate and whether or not it would all be too outlandish for my family. Obviously, no problem on either front.)

Friendly Neighborhood Sheep
A prelude to the sheep that I've been assured showed up en masse at the end of our wedding (it's also kind of weird typing "wedding" over and over and over again, btw).

Toes!
I have to admit, a lot of Wednesday was just playing with Lydia. She is such a delight. :)

Maple Candies
It was also making (and failing at) maple candies. I think these were one of the few batches that didn't get melted down.

Baking Wreckage
And Thursday was the big Cupcake Making Day. I cleaned the kitchen after every single batch, but it was still a mess.

I think I've mentioned this several times, but the best thing about the wedding (aside from the dancing and the wife-ing), was all the help freely given and how things just sort of got done. Here you can see Lady's family cutting up and pasting together the table cards.

Random grandma!!

Ana became one of our worker bee's too.

Assembling Cranberry-Lime Cupcakes
She helped us keep our sanity. And assemble the cranberry-lime cupcakes.

Cupcaaaakes!
Cupcaaaaaakes.

Then my family came over and we put them to work assembling the favor boxes.

Maple Candies and Their Boxes
Candy wot go in favor boxes.

So this fabric we got for the string lights we were originally going to tie into flowers (magically, somehow) but when we tried to do that a few weeks ago, it fell apart. So we were left with a bunch of long strings of fabric we didn't know much what to do with. Magically, they worked wonderfully when wrapped around the lights. They also ended up tied around mason jars, drapped across tables, and tied around poles. Frankly, scraps of fabric = ftw.

Another moment of amazingness- we never had to worry about putting those lights or taking them down. True fact: they came down at the end of the night without us even having to ask.

september-142
Also, I had some amazing cupcake icers! Penny was making the icing while Nikki and Ana helped ice and shoo those damn flies away.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but I think they're discussing where the band should set up. Doug was in charge of the music.

I ventured outside at one point for some air and a break. Oh em gee, so gorgeous. I went for a quick run later, to visit the chickens and to vent some of my growing nerves.

I didn't take many more photos after that because then it was time for us to go over the ceremony with Jim - her uncle and officiant - and for us to write down our vows and then for us to start getting ready. Or, well, for Lady to get ready since she was the one with all the hair. :) Very glad I cut it all off back in May...
