[personal profile] spryng

How can such a cute thing be so grumpy? I don't know, but I have noticed Darj' has a default "oh drat, you caught me" look to her, especially when she's doing things she knows are bad. Like stealing hairbands. Or scratching at the sofa. Oh Darjeeling. A kitten after my own wicked heart.

This week was our first "official" week with Crossfit. We'd been doing one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer since the beginning of July and attended a handful of actual classes last week, but this will be our first week going 3+ times. In the morning. At 5:30am.

We went Tuesday and holy shizznit it was a doozy. I'm still sore. And it's Thursday. We ran and then we lifted barbells and then we did pistol squats (or one-legged squats, or for those of us with neither enough balance nor strength, squats), and ran some more and did some push-ups and then weighted sit-ups and pulled a heavy metal thingy across the gravel behind the gym. Ow. We were last on every single thing and almost late for work and it sucked. But you know what? I'm still looking forward to getting my ass handed to me tomorrow morning.

Although, right now, I'm actually itching to run. And I really hate running. Or at least, I used to, until somehow this past weekend I managed to run a mile without any breaks. More than a mile, actually. And I haven't managed to run a mile in years - not since cross country in high school. Not for lack of trying. Off and on I'd been trying to get back into running since HS, but nothing clicked. It just sucked too much. But something has changed because I ran a mile on Friday and a mile on Sunday and a mile on Monday, and each time most of it was actually kind of fun. I'm looking forward to amping it up a bit this weekend. One of these days I would really like to do a full 3 miles, like I never managed to do in HS.

Anyway. Crossfit is fun and awesome and hard and painful but I think we're both going to stick with it. I really like the olympic lifts and the kettleballs and the box jumps, even if the push-ups and mountain climbers suck. Our gym (or "box" as the terminology goes) is having a free open house event on the 27th for anyone who might be interested in seeing what's it like. If you're interested, you should hit me up and come with. I would love to pass the pain along. :)
