Kona & Darjeeling
Jul. 31st, 2011 08:36 pmThank you for all your comments on Friday; making sure we knew what we were getting into was a big priority for me. Not that we had decided by then. It was definitely an all day how-could-this-go-horribly-wrong fest of ideas. And Lady and I came to the conclusion that even if it did go horribly wrong, we would be able to manage it. So.
A little more about the kitties:
Anyway. So Lady and I decided late on Friday that we could afford and handle kitties and then Saturday we went and picked them up. We debated names the entire drive, having originally settled on Amalsuentha and Goisuentha, Visigothic queens. But we tripped upon Darjeeling and Kona on the drive and once we met them, the names kind of stuck. The grey and white tabby is a lot calmer than her sister and a lot more cautious, so Darjeeling fit her well. And the black kitty is hyper and a bit on the crazy, mischievous side, so of course she fits Kona. I like to think they're Darjeeling and Kona Suentha, but in practice that probably won't pan out. :)
They're absolute darlings. They're already attacking the curtains, as I'd been warned, but thankfully they're litter trained so we haven't had to worry about that. They're about four months old, curious as hell, but each of them purr as loud as a lawnmower. I still can't get past the feeling that we're only holding on to them for a few days, though. I imagine in a week or so it'll be like we've never not had kittens.
Darjeeling, our skittish little tabby.
And Kona, the devilish one you know is just going to get into everything.
