A Very Busy Weekend
Jun. 13th, 2011 10:33 amFirst off: Worms! We've both been wanting to avoid just throwing away useful stuff like plant matter (carrot peelings, old lettuce, etc), but composting seemed like a bad (and stinky!) idea in such a tiny place like an apartment. So Lady researched and got excited about worms, and this Sunday we picked up .5lb of red wigglers (see: above). Now we have pets, although not quite the kind Lady had in mind.
Second off: Wedding is officially official! I finally managed to tell mom that it is happening and that was the last big hang-up before being able to be all official about it, since if I couldn't get up the guts to tell mom in a timely manner, it couldn't happen. Phew. That was difficult, but I think her having a full year to think about us and our being engaged probably helped. 'Cause, come on, remember the "so what does a lesbian engagement entail" question? Also, it helped a lot that the rest of the family, as they found out we were engaged, were able to take that logical mental leap.
What does this mean for you? For one thing, it means an up-tick in posts pertaining to the planning aspect. I will keep most of the idea bits contained over here, but will update as things get pinned down for us. Right now, all we know for sure is that it will be Minnesota, it will be close to Minneapolis, it will be September 2012, and it will probably be the weekend of the 22nd, September, 2012. There will be contra dancing, there will be cupcakes, and there will be an abundance of silliness.
I will also try not to go overboard in the planning and the crazy department, because the most important part of this for me is for that it be a thing for the family and people I love to meet each other and become one big, crazy family for a night.
Now, to start the search for a photog who meets my crazy expectations...
Oh! Yes: this weekend was also the great beginning of the apartment-redecorating-ganza (wow, we're becoming quite domestic, aren't we?), wherein we completely exhausted ourselves merely painting the teensy office. Next weekend is the bedroom, and if you live in Tucson, you are going to be bribed with food to come help. :D
