May. 19th, 2011 04:45 pmI finished reviewing the revision (reviewing the review of the revised revision?) and now am sending it on to my betas and turning my attentions elsewhere to let it cool. I probably could've done a better final review, but at this point I'm too close to it to do any good.
My new focus is on the second in the (possible) series. I think I'll do something new and spend about a week plotting and outlining. I've never really done that before and, although I love writing by the seat-of-my-pants, whatever makes for less revisions of the plot is golden in my eyes. Then June I'll throw myself back into writing and see if I can get another 80k by August. I think this is a good plan.
Especially since I still have no idea what's going on with the agency. :( I finally got my lost agent to confirm the separation, but she was unable to say anything about my ongoing role. I guess I won't find out until June. But the way it's sounding and the way I'm not getting more than a one or two word answer out of the remaining agent to any of my emails is not heartening.
And what to do come November? I guess I'll just keep looking for possible future jobs. I wonder what it takes to become an editor or copy-editor. I seem to be very nitpicky with others' work (although not my own... whoops).
Either way, gotta keep myself productive. Of course it quieted down at work-work as soon as the one agent up and disappeared and I finished my revisions, so I've been doing a lot of "wot am i doing... ooh, look shiny internet thing" this week. Gah. Hate that. What a waste of time.
Ooh, I do have San Diego and the ocean to look forward to next week...

Date: 2011-05-20 08:20 am (UTC)I do some volunteer editing with www.gutenberg.org. You should check out volunteer editing gigs to see whether you dig it. Also tends to lead to paid work--which is nice.
