Wedding photography is a great way to make extra cash and build up your portfolio. My dad did it the entire time I was growing up (his full-time job was as a photographer/journalist for a newspaper) and raked in about $2,000 a month doing it (4 Saturdays a month during peak wedding season).
I worked as a freelance videographer for a few years before I came to New College and I shot mostly weddings--also a good way to make money but there's lots of work involved with video editing.
