So: Oregon. Corvallis really is an adorable little agricultural town, with a large university in its midst which made it far more liberal than I was expecting. It would be a good place to live, what with the sheer amount of parks, the hills at hand and the ocean within an hour's reach. You could easily bike from one side of town to the other, and it appeared that many do. Even though it is a small community, my fears of it being like small towns in the midwest or south were belayed - it's still very northwestern in feel and mindset. And weather. We were even assured by the wife of one of the profs that there is a gay community and that kind of thing really isn't an issue.

Not much to do, aside, again, from the sheer amount of parks and biking and running and hiking etc. Felt a bit like the second home I stayed with in Germany, actually. And since it's a small community, can't really be an introvert and get lost like you can in a city. BUT - they have bi-weekly contradancing. WOO.

Just to state again, though, we still have NO idea where we're going. Lady got the official acceptance letter from Michigan and it sounded like Oregon is on the verge of sending her one as well, but we still haven't heard back from Arizona and MI has yet to provide Lady with an idea of funding. Sigh. Hopefully we'll know before April, though. Corvallis would be the easiest place to move to, and I can really see myself there, but I'm not sure if easy is what I need this early in my life. I love the NW, but both AZ and MI would be an adventure. Well, thankfully it's not up to me. xp

Have a fabulous day.

Plant pathology, specifically viruses, but she's okay with bacteria, too. Hence the agricultural setting of some of these schools.
