I rented a 105mm macro lens for the weekend and did not spend nearly enough time with it. I forced myself awake at 5am this morning to get to the park early and play with it and these are some of the results. As always, there're more and bigger at my flickr page.

This is Lady's eye; the camera decided it was green instead of blue.

The golden strands are from the rising sun.

He thought if he couldn't see me, I couldn't see him.

It was an interesting experience; I certainly have a lot more respect for those who shoot macro photos. Also, da-yum was that lens heavy. I can't imagine what the 200mm must weigh; I suppose I'll find out when I rent it next week. I found the 105mm was good for non-moving objects, like the textures and Lady's eye, but not so much for anything skittish. Considering I had to get so close to the spider that I scared him into that leaf, well. 105mm won't work for other, much more skittish bugs.

This weekend was also productive in non-photography ways. I wrote a bunch yesterday and I wrote a bunch today and after this post is done I'm going to write some more. The graph - it tempts me. I must surpass yesterday's word count! And this is awesome, because I'm writing regularly again and it's becoming easier and easier to just sit down and write. If this continues, I'll probably be a lot happier this fall than I was last.

The photographer reflection in her pupil is fabulous. Can you see yourself?

These are great. I am especially loving the dandelion. I registered it as "flower" but it took a second and then third look before I mentally resolved the image as "dandelion pouf".

Yeah, I see my arms and the lightbox I was using overhead. I first tried to blur and/or erase the reflection, then decided it was too odd without.

Thank you ^^ - the dandelion is my favorite as well. No wonder there are so many macros of dandelions out there.
