Nov. 6th, 2008 07:38 pmSo. The last two days were kinda cool. There was apparently a massive celebration Tuesday night downtown, ending with people cleaning up after themselves. A rare thing with massive celebrations, as NCF students would know. People at the office were in high spirits as well as people out and about downtown. Even though there's no way he can live up to everyone's expectations of him and no way he can do everything he's promised, and frankly, he is only human, it's refreshing to see so much happiness. I don't remember anyone being this jubilant over past elections. It's - dare I say it - hopeful.
I just really hope he doesn't follow through with his foreclosure moratorium. I mean, aside from wanting to keep my job, it just wouldn't fix the problem. Maybe for a handful of people, but giving everyone a few months to catch up with their payments that they can't afford in the first place will only put them in the same spot a few months later. Maybe forcing banks to lower the crazy interest rates that caused these sudden increases in payments, since that's how they lured so many people into mortgages they couldn't afford - ooh, it's only 2%! What's this about after a year it going up to London's rate plus three percent? Must mean 3%! Certainly not 10%. Nope. Or maybe helping out those who bought a house with a lien against it and didn't know the lien was there so suddenly they're owing on this mortgage that isn't even theirs. They didn't buy owner's insurance, but it's still the title company's fault. A complete halt isn't going to fix those problems. It'll only make things more confused when the halt is lifted.
Hi! I don't talk about work.
NaNo's going. A little behind. And my wrist is being funny and painful at times and I really don't like that. Lady and I both started having the same problem at the same time so hopefully it's only the weather or something like that. The weather has grown dismal. It's cloudy and rainy everyday, but I've got this brilliant red rain coat now that's absolutely fantastic. From Value Village. 20 bucks. Sweeeeeeet.
I want Left 4 Dead, but I haven't got the money right now considering I just paid rent and apparently when I went to the doctor it wasn't the last day of my health care coverage, but sometime after that. Fuck. So I owe them money for a stupid visit where they told me I didn't have strep and made me wait almost an hour. Well. Two more months and benefits kick in at work, at least. I also want Fallout 3 because it sounds like it's an improved Oblivion and Oblivion = awesome. But besides moneys, I haven't any time, and what time I do have is devoted to Becky right now. I even took my laptop to work to write today. Got 500 words at lunch. That was worth it.
And on that note, to NaNo!
