It's almost the end of ISP and my supposed thesis cranking time and all I've managed to accomplish is to learn Gothic and translate almost half of Luke, but come no further on figuring out what to do for the third chapter - ie, defining what exactly my thesis is about - or work on the other two. I've put off fixing the other two by rationalizing that they'll be easier to direct and streamline when I know what my third chapter is on, but then I can't seem to figure that out. And then I freak out because what if I have to trash what I have when I do figure it out? So I keep translating, hoping an answer will come. So far I have two very linguistic ideas, but they don't tie into what I originally wanted, which was Latin-Gothic interaction. There's so much more Greek-Gothic interaction, but I don't know Greek well enough. ;.; So I start going over my Greek again, but still not actually getting anywhere.
;.;

Wow, I really want more coffee... I think after finishing this update I will brew some and take up Story's offer of working in Sudakoff. I really don't want to go to the library and I'd feel obliged to buy something if I went to the 4winds. Even though every time I go I manage almost four hours of work. o.o

So a week... my goals for the following week are my goals for the month: find a topic for the third chapter, finish translating Luke, review Greek, flesh out the first two chapters, and maybe start on the third. That's a lot, but if I actually do work instead of farting around online I can do it. I need to do it. I want to be done with this before April, right? I -can- do it. I just wish there were more articles about the language that weren't from before 1940. x.x Latin-Gothic, Latin-Gothic, there was a Bible with both, right, suggesting bilingualism, but why does nobody even write about that??

In other news,
It seems like I'm pretty much set on it. xp Which is somewhat frightening, considering I somehow subconsciously decided it before I'd fully researched it. And it's proven (and common sense) that once you decide on something, it's so much easier to find even little things to support it and dismiss anything negative; that is, you're no longer objective. So I'm going to try harder to be objective while I continue actually researching it so I don't end up pursuing something that is a construct of my own flighty imagination.

That aside, it just is so perfect. As perfect as a city can be, anyway. The weather might be rainy all winter, but it never gets really cold and in the summer it never gets really warm, meaning none of the FL 95 degree weather and none of the northern -15. Brr. It does snow sometimes, though, but not constantly all winter. The apartments I've seen online are pretty nice for their prices (and one even has a washer and dryer!) and the public transportation doesn't seem that expensive, plus all the apartments I've looked at are close enough to downtown that I could probably walk/bike/roller skate, anyway. And there're mountains! It's on the ocean, and there's a desert on the other side of the mountains where it is sunny and dry for those months when all it does is rain. And there's the college that I want to go to (if I can get in ;.;), and jobs, although according to the lj community it's hard to get a job there since there're just so many college graduates. x.x That seems like the major negative so far. And the taxes are higher than FL, too. And there's a tax on cars and the better the car you have the higher the tax you have to pay each year. But thankfully, I will likely never have an awesome car. And if I do, I'd have the money to pay for the taxes, hopefully. o.o Oh yeah, and the traffic is apparently atrocious, but what city's isn't? I wouldn't be driving that much anyway.

So it's basically a city, but not a really large city and without as many of the negatives of a city, which is what I want. Ever since Berlin and living in Petersburg I've wanted to live in a city, mainly because of the public transportation. I really don't want to have to drive everywhere. I want to be able to walk to the grocery store or at least bike and be able to walk or bike to work. I'm tired of not being able to get anywhere by foot. That's my major beef with FL. Everything's so spread out.

I also must keep in mind that moving somewhere new isn't going to be a magical experience with everything thrown into my lap. Which is why I'm hoarding my monies and researching this and making a list to ask people who've been/live in Seattle whether or not my expectations are crazy or plausible. Because frankly, I've never been there myself. x.x() We'll be going in June, though, when we decide for absolute positive sure and we'll find an apartment then.

So excited! If nothing else, it'll be new and we'll be on the west coast. ^-^

"there was a Bible with both, right, suggesting bilingualism, but why does nobody even write about that??"

Is the lack of such writing on the topic a significant enough thing to write about? Is this idea even helpful?

Whereabouts are you looking at apartments? I need to start researching more. <.

Ballard, mostly. Seems like a good neighborhood from what I've heard and read. Also Capitol Hill, but it sounds like it has more gangs and whatnot (not that I'm not used to living in the seedy part of town). Aaaand... University Place has cheaper apartments. But definitely Ballard first and foremost.
