Nov. 2nd, 2015 07:47 pmFirst day of work was today! I'm both intimidated and confident, which is a fun?? place to be in ??? Honestly, I'm just glad for the change and the overall relaxed atmosphere of the place. I'll be salary for the first time ever and the boss straight up said that all they care about is that the work gets done. No more of this micromanaging, time clocking bullshit. We'll see how it goes, but for a first day I was super unstressed.
The biggest problem I foresee right now with gainful employment are the long-ass days. We can only really go to the 5.30am crossfit class, and we both decided that rushing home afterwards to spend a grand total of 20min home with the kitties before rushing back out again wasn't worth it, so we're planning to just go straight into work afterwards instead. But I can't exactly change my 8-5 schedule right off the bat, so in practice this looks like: 5.30am crossfit, 6.30am done with crossfit and dropping Lady off, 7am at the office, 8am start work, 5pm stop work, 6pm home. Which is a long ass day, frankly. I mean, the hour before work will be nice because I can squeeze in some more writing time but damn, going straight from unemployment is haaard.

Other fun things: we went to TusCon this weekend, which is the teeniest, most adorable con ever. Seriously, they had like three rooms for panels, two of which could barely fit ten people. It was adorable. But! They had Seanan McGuire as their guest of honor this year so we had to go and she was worth every minute and dollar of it. She is exactly who I want to be when I grow up, full of murder and glitter and honest-to-god pure love. Plus, she gave Lady a copy of the not-yet-released Chimera and also launched into song when Lady asked about her favorite virus. I think Lady may have a crush now. I know I do.
Upcoming: work, work, and more work. Also putting my nose to the proverbial stone to get this first draft done and written. Only 20k to go!
