Inching - inching - inching along and coming to the conclusion that this monstrosity is still going to need quite a bit of work, but - but! - not nearly as much as this rewrite required. Maybe a month of solid editing in place of the, uh, eight months of on-off rewriting I've been doing. Just goes to show that writing something when you don't know where it's going or why only makes the rewrite that much more all-encompassing.
Lady's birthday was well and good and quiet. I made her bacon and eggs for breakfast and a big old chocolate rum cake for dessert and really really wanted to take the day off and spend it with her, but she had too much in the lab to do that day and therefore it would have been me at home by myself celebrating her birthday. Which would have been silly.
Otherwise not doing much outside of work and writing, since writing is what I do when I wake up (right after checking emails, it's cool), go on break, go to lunch, and come home in the evening. Just another week - so close to being done.
