Mar. 8th, 2011 08:37 amI just realized I posted about my email inquiring about the internship at the literary agency, then never actually came back to throw glee everywhere. I thought about it really hard, but they've yet to perfect instantaneous thought-updates. Which, actually, thank god they haven't.
Granted, I cannot fully glee yet, because I still have to meet with the head lady and have things go well there (this Thursday!!), but I did hear back (which I wasn't expecting), and they are still looking for an intern (which I wasn't expecting), and I did actually meet with one of the agents (which I definitely wasn't expecting), and she seemed pretty awesome (which I was expecting). I think I made a decent impression, albeit with a few typical stupid things said ("I like books!" hurr durr). So I am totally not as terrified of meeting the other agent, but I am still going to cross my fingers because they haven't quite said any magic words, and but I am paranoid. But but but - they are eventually looking to hire someone for real monies, and that could potentially coincide beautifully with the end of my work in the city.
Of course, so very much can happen between now and December, so I'm going to try (and fail) to hold off speculating.
In other news, Tucson Festival of Books is this weekend and I am super duper excited. There will be books! And authors! And workshops! And talks! And more books!
I am also in the process of trying to put together a book-reviewy blog. Partially to have a better way to keep tabs on all the things I've read and push myself to think a bit more on them. I know review blogs are a dime a dozen, which is why I'm totally going at this from a selfish stand point. But I'd also like some input, if anyone does read review blogs on a regular basis. Is there anything specific you like to see? Anything about the review itself? I know personally there are a few I got bored with because their input on the book was minimal, while most of the post was devoted to the flap copy.
So what, in your opinion, makes an exceptional review blog? :D
