Re: Photography
Apr. 10th, 2010 08:40 amNo, I haven't abandoned my photography completely. Sure, it's been a few weeks since I last did or posted a 365, but that's only because my priorities have shifted a little for the time being. It was just too much to juggle that and planning for AZ and the new exercise regime lady and I have got going plus a ton of books that I'd had on hold at the library that came available all at once and well, there was that one evening I just ended up sleeping, and that other time where maybe I did have the time, but not the energy.
Yes, I miss it. I do. That's why from now on I will have Weekend Projects in place of the 365. It's much more sustainable and less likely to burn me out on photography completely. I've reached a plateau at this point, so my Weekend Projects (step 71 of N Steps to Self Betterment and [Eventual] World Domination) will focus on breaking that plateau. Or, well, at least increasing the elevation thereof. I want to go back to Strobist's Lighting 102 and finish the assignments. I want to work on my lighting in general. And do more photoshoots. I love photoshoots and I need to practice more with them. Considering the advent of my parents and then another friend from MN in the coming weeks, though, my next photoshoot will have to be put off for now.
Re: those other priorities. I have shifted writing to the tippy top of my list, because when it is not there it gets woefully neglected. Now that it's at the top, I've been writing every day. It's awesome. Not just a paragraph here or there anymore, but nigh on full pages. Of course, I want to get to nigh on pages, but a start is a start.
And right underneath writing is exercising. Lady and I have both been on a regime of elliptical every other day and long walks the rest, but now we have our sights set on the AZ 3-Day in November. That's 60 miles in 3 days, or 20 miles a day. We are both just hitting three miles comfortably a day, so we've resolved to train. That means more time towards exercise, which is good, but again taking away from photography time.
In the end I hope that it'll be worth it. That Lady and I will be in excellent physical shape - we're already so much better than we were a month or two ago - and that I'll have established a firm daily writing routine so that I can gradually introduce photography back into the mix.
