First thing I do is take my temp upon waking these days. Trying to figure out what my basal temp is. For reasons.

Then I can make the coffee.

Also make some soft water (boiling water + baking sofa, go fig) to wash my hair later. Has to cool a little first.

Check on the granola that was baking in the oven overnight. Smells done.

COFFEE

Internet & work on mom's calendar for a little while.

Put granola in containers once it's cool.

Wake up the Lady. She gets dressed.

My hair looks remarkably tame in this photo pre-shower. Despite its REAL nature.

SHOWER.

I'm not really hungry because my pre-5k nerves are starting to ramp up, but I force myself to eat something anyway. Last year I thought I could run it on an empty stomach and ended up scarfing down a banana fifteen min before hand. Felt sick. :(

Put on my runnin' shoes.

Time check!

Despite the pretty morning, it's BRR outside.

Get my number and initially put it on my jacket, then decide I can take the cold and reposition it.

Feels like not as many people as last year's Thanksgiving run.

Part of the fun are the outfits that some people wear. Tutus & turkey hats abound.

Hills! Hay bales! Water obstacles! This course is fun!

Very glad I left the jacket behind. This year's run was good - close to the same time as last year, but it felt a lot easier and a lot more fun. Considering how little I trained, I'm cool with that.

I reward my photographer with a bagel from the post-run food area. I'm still full from my eggs. :)

Time check.

Get home and fill the tires, since we're going on a roadtrip Friday.

Kona is less than pleased to be woken from her nap.

Make a pot of tea to thaw the lingering chill.

Then it's time to start working on food. Lady prepares sweet potatoes.

I make a list of what needs to be done and when.

Gratuitous cat photo.

Lady also makes persimmon chutney.

I take down the autumn decorations and put up a few wintry ones.

Then I work on making hot cocoa.

Which is apparently very difficult because naptime.

Wake up and process some chocolate for the cocoa.

Lady cooks her chutney. Apparently there's onion in there. Who knew?

Time to get that turkey ready! This was the smallest TJ's had.

...aaand clean up. For the fifth or sixth time and definitely not the last.

Maybe eat some lunch. I guess. Canned salmon with pepper mayo & spinach.

Harass some cats.

Start working on the cranberry sauce.

Then put everything on hold and go visit the chickens, who have become increasingly less skittish. These are their expectant "treat time!!" faces.

But once they have treats, they ignore us.

Which is good, because today is coop clean out day.

Steal some eggs. I think the short days and cold weather might finally be effecting our feathery friends' production.

Chickens finish their treats and come to investigate what we're doing.

Why is this door open??

Then it's chicken bowling with fresh straw!

We just have to distribute the flakes - the chickens will scratch it down to level pretty quickly.

A Lady and her flock.

Home again - check the list.

Making things: sweet potato casserole.

GF pumpkin rolls.

Choppin' marshmallows for the sweet potatoes.

Flash visit from friend to pick up some eggs. Try to entice her to stay for food, but she has other food opportunities.

The thermometer promises us that the turkey is done!

A wild

Despite having just come off an 8 hour shift, she has the energy to make us latkes. That's love.

I knife the carcass.

Foods are retrieved from the oven.

Dreidls are spun.

Food.

Dueling DITLs!

But before food, it's time to light the candles.

Okay, now food for real.

Then some Sailor Moon & glogg, because why not?

BANANA CREAM PIE.

Lady gazes into the vastness that is the kitchen. The vastness gazes back.

Kitchen is cleaner than it's been in days.

As do we. Lady reads a little.

I write a little. Then it's good night!
