Apr. 23rd, 2012 12:32 pmSo after that post on Tuesday, I despaired over my hives for a while and then finally let the horrible hivey itching become my new normal - at least for the following few weeks. But then I went to our strength class on Wednesday and talked to the coach, letting her know that I'd skipped Monday's class on account of feeling like shit and that I would likely be under the weather for the foreseeable future.
She told me to buck up and take some fish oil and zinc and that it probably wouldn't take me that long to get over it because I was a healthy young lady. I moped out of there anyway and Lady talked me into getting said fish oil and zinc supps just in case - because really, anything at this point, right? So we did and Thursday the hives had spread a little further and Friday they had stopped and Saturday they had begun to fade. And now today they have completely stopped spreading, are mostly a soft pink instead of an ugly red, and are well on their way to becoming a very bad memory.
Wow. So. Just in case you ever get this shit. Fish oil and zinc man. Fish oil and zinc.
This is totally going on my list of things to be thankful for, just behind running hot water, air conditioning, cars with electric windows, and bicycles with functional brakes: not being covered in an itchy mess.
In non-skin related news, this weekend was great, if hot. Tucson hit its first (of many) 100+ day and we spent most of each afternoon lazing about. Well, except Sunday when I was cooking and filled the apartment with smoke so we kind of had to open all the windows and sweat for a while. Saturday we went for a long-ass nine mile walk, as one of our first preparations towards Hadrian's Wall in September, which itself is a long-ass 80 mile hike. It was good and informative. And now my calves hurt.
I also made a cake. It was my first successful cake, even though the frosting was several disasters and finally somewhat acceptable. Fuck meringues, man. Those things are evil.
One last thing and then I should probably try and squeeze some writing into my lunchbreak: I have an official 8:38 mile under my belt. I also tricked Lady into running three miles on Thursday, so I think we're just fine for the Warrior Dash coming up this weekend, if still more than a little nervous.
