The first little thing: This morning I woke up and wanted to bury my head back into the pillow. I'd been a bit light-headed from stress and diet the night before and it didn't disappear overnight. So I went to crossfit with fear and trepidation rubbing elbows in my heart, knowing for sure that it would be something awful. Like bear crawls. Or handstands. F-ing handstands.
But when I got there and saw what the WOD was - push press and 4 x 400m run - and how simple and easy it was, I laughed and my day was suddenly much better.

The second: Our coffee grinder had become dangerous with a frayed and exposed electrical cord and Lady has been wanting to replace and retire it for a while now. We finally got a new, fancy burr grinder and omg the difference. I don&'t know how me, the coffee connoisseur, could have remained ignorant of proper grinders for this long, but our coffee maker now uses less grounds to make the same strength coffee and the espresso machine I'd relegated the back of the cupboard for sucking hardcore actually makes a decent cuppa. Being able to make a shot of espresso at home that doesn't taste like dirt is marvelous.

The third: Watching [livejournal.com profile] malanai crank out bench presses at a much higher weight than she started out 2-3 weeks ago last night warmed the cockles of my heart. For her and, selfishly of course, for me, since I've felt rather stymied lately in my weightlifting progression.

The fourth: OMG DEMO CLASS ON SATURDAY NOT A LITTLE THING AT ALL I'M GOING TO FREEZE AND BARF ALL OVER THE STUDENTS

The fifth: Lady and I started a 2-week no-added-sugar stint to get ourselves away from the baked goods that have been slowly reinfiltrating our lives. I am also doing no grain, alcohol or dried fruit. So far, I've been marveling at how easy it is to eat out when one allows dairy. Also at how much easier it is to say "no" to things now than it used to be - it could be the two-week thing, it could just be ongoing repetition of an almost-paleo diet.

The sixth: There is now a large square of chalkboard in our bedroom, the better to have readily available inspirational messages, ongoing weightlifting stats, and to use to teach Latin to the cats.

The seventh: I want this job so bad, but I feel so very unprepared. I know a lot of it is simply on-the-job experience that you get in handling kids, but the rest of me is still convinced I must know everything ever by this Saturday.

The eighth: Cats spooning on the computer chair.

The ninth: Kale chips make everything better.
