Ever since I found out last fall, too late, that apple and pumpkin picking is a thing that can happen here in AZ, I've been itching to find an orchard and get my pickin' on. We picked blueberries and strawberries in the NW, and I've picked rasp-, goose-, cloud- and blackberries, but never apples. New experience! I was excited.

I was also daunted. Aren't apples all like, up in a tree? High? It's probably difficult, climbing that tree or getting a ladder or what have you. Trees are big after all. And apples grow on trees. Hours of hard labor for just a handful of apples, I'm sure.

But surprise - apple picking is easy! They come off the tree with the touch of a hand and soon you have more pounds of apples than you know what to do with. I'm thinking apple crisps. Yes. :)

Anyway, it wasn't terribly exciting from a blogging perspective, but I enjoyed it and hanging with [livejournal.com profile] malanai and her beau. We're already scheming to come back in October for the pumpkins and the later apple crops. :)

There were wind turbines in the middle of some of the orchards. And lots and lots of apples already strewn across the dirt.

The criterion apples were our first stop, and most of them were itsy, but delicious.

Me rocking the orange and the necklace [livejournal.com profile] therealbenni gave me. Well. Part of it. There's a key, too, which I can be seen rocking out here.

Then, after two hours of pickin's, we were tuckered out and had some kettle corn and shaved ice at one of the picnic tables.

And now one semi-artistic one, because I can.
