A number of updates:
1) Kona and Darjeeling are getting along swimmingly. Kona is turning out to be the crazy flake of the two, while Darjeeling is somehow both more aggressive and skittish. She has also developed a fondness for ponytail holders. Kona is more vocal and has decided that Lady's computer chair is officially hers. Darj' just likes to bat me awake at 3am.
2) I am at a week without caffeine, and most everything has stopped being sucky. I still have this weird, phantom headache that comes and goes and does not bother listening to drugs. But the fatigue has lifted and now my energy levels are pretty much on par with how they were on caffeine. The cravings for coffee still persist mightily, especially since yesterday it was overcast and the perfect day for a cup of coffee and a scone, of which I could have neither.
3) I am also a week into the 30-day highly restrictive diet. And I want a scone, dammit. Oh well. It has actually been rather successful - I started at 166 last week and this morning weighed 161. I know I can't sustain 5lbs a week - and I really don't want to - but this is already so much more awesome than any other diet/exercise plan I've tried. Plus, I've stopped counting calories and just eat when I want. My only fear is that it'll plateau this week and come crashing back in the third.
3.5) I don't think I've actually said what the highly restrictive diet is. It means eating lots of veggies, some fruit, some meat, and a few nuts. That's it. Which means no dairy, no beans, no grains, no rice, no added sugars, etc. I've kind of messed with it a little to allow for more fruit, because it's freaking fruit season and I want some damn fruit now, but it doesn't seem affected. The last day also just happens to be the day before my birthday. Good timing or... good timing? ;)
4) Lady started up the same diet with me today. It was funny because she was oh-so-angry about all the restrictions and how they didn't make sense (and I still don't put any stock in the diet's philosophical underpinnings) and then she got even angrier when I was losing weight because she figured she would have to try it. And it would mean no pastries. I just hope it works for her, because she just hates this diet with so much passion. I'd feel guilty.
5) We're going to MN on Thursday! Huzzah!
6) My boss is back in town, which means hopefully things won't be so slow here. Already we're getting more calls and I'm doing more work and being generally more productive. Put in a good 2k of writing earlier today, which just goes to show I need to be doing things to be able to keep doing things and not wallow in malaise.
7) Going to MN means I needs be emailing these potential wedding venues and photographers. So I'm going to go do that now.
8) Oh, and I also got a haircut. I should probably take some photos.
