First, my image for 'E' which is tangentially applicable (Lady's engagement ring).

Now for a bit of ranting.

I've become quite political in the last few years, partially because it's hard not to be when whether or not you deserve to be treated the same way as everyone else is an actual political position (wtf, guys?), and partially because the sheer level of DERP makes it hard to look away. It's a train wreck of people spouting off their opinions as fact, which I suppose is how it's always been, but in this day and age of (supposedly) easy fact checking online, most people still don't even bother.

So yes, this particular election has had me alternatively ranting to Lady about how freaking stupid people are and ripping out my hair. But at least there were the occasional joys like Christine O'Donnell (who, by the way, by her own admission would be a Satanist, not a witch, which speaks more truly to the core values of the republican/tea party [no, seriously, read up on the core values of Satanism sometime; it's very bootstrappy]). But as Scalzi has pointed out numerous times, "the GOP may have put a gun to the head of the Democratic majority in the house, but it’s the Democrats who said, 'dude, you’re holding it wrong,' jammed the gun into their own temple, and then pulled the trigger."

But now that's it over, I'm both relieved that this campaign season is at an end (although I bet the presidential one will begin in 5...4...3...), and kind of full of a sick schadenfreude for what is to come. Can the republicans really do any better? Or will they, like during the previous eight years, just basically continue to hit the same buttons and ram things into the ground? If they can do better, then more power to them. But what I expect is absolutely nothing legislative getting done in the next two years. And then blaming the president for it again. Either way, two years is forever politically. I'm placing bets that the derp won't be going away soon, though.

And as one farker already said: the republicans have been in power for almost twelve hours now; why haven't they fixed the economy yet?
