And, as promised, a deluge of photos from our trip. I'll entice you with the following kitteh, and the rest are after the cut.

We left Seattle at 7:30am on Tuesday, driving past the city-scape with Owl City's "Hello Seattle" playing. It was inevitable that we would tear up, but soon we were past Tacoma and Olympia and lulled into complacency by the slightly familiar vistas of Southern WA and then Portland. We caught up with her dad driving the truck for three rest stops before departing for 101 in southern Oregon, which met us with gorgeous greens the like of which we would not see again.

We wove our way through redwoods for an hour before emerging quite suddenly on the coast. From there we traveled south, passing through Crescent City and Eureka in lieu of more southern resting spots. However, we did not realize how little there would be between Eureka and Willits and it was well past 9pm and after many deer sightings before we found a hotel and rested for the night.

The next morning's drive made up for (and then some) the long hours of driving after nightfall the day before. We took 101 a little further south and then cut over towards I-5, following a winding but gorgeous road which took us along lakes, grapevines, and hills for the better part of two hours.

Then we hit I-5 and easily four hours of boring, flat, endless land. There was, however, an occasional interesting spot. Such as sudden green fields.

And the brown hills dotted with power lines. We were counting down the miles to LA, though.

Then, finally, we hit the hills that signified the end of the boring segment of the drive and the beginning of the ascent - then the descent into LA.

LA was horrendous. We hit the city edge right at 4pm and did not leave the thick traffic behind until almost 7. The sun was setting as we sped towards San Diego and in no time - especially after LA - we were at Lady's mom's house. We spent the next few days there, and I'll catalogue those and the drive to AZ on the morrow.
