Thursday Morning Thoughts
Feb. 21st, 2013 06:27 am- Feeling sniffly & sneezy & exhausted again. This is not cool. Body: you are only allowed to get sick once a year! What are you doing!!
- It SNOWED yesterday. This would not be news anywhere else, but this is Tucson, and the only snow I'd yet seen was in the mountains. And this was some serious snow. About midday it started drizzling, then suddenly that drizzle became more substantial & drifty, and then there were huge flakes of snow coming down. Gorgeous. But that wasn't all - it snowed again on my walk home (most surreal walk home ever) and then again when I was driving Doug back from the gym. The last was the best - huge, spiraling clumps of snow. Absolutely gorgeous. Some of it even stuck over night - there's still snow on the grass outside.
- Submitted my app at work for what would constitute a promotion. I think I've got the other people in my department who would be eligible beat, but there might be people in other departments. I'm excited because it would = more interesting things to do & more pay. I only feel a little bad that I don't intend to actually stay here for more than three more years...
- Speaking of which, Lady mentioned her PI is trying to get her done in 2 years and I might have had a moment of panic. I've known all along that we'd be leaving again sometime in the foreseeable future, but... I guess I hadn't realized how attached I'd grown regardless.
- Cactopodes are getting crazier and crazier. I'm posting on a MWF schedule and you should read. :P
- Query letters are hard.
