October Challenge and Jobbiness
Sep. 28th, 2011 12:10 pmI wrote about my new October 1,000 meters a day challenge over at the N Steps blog. I go into rather unnecessary length there, so I'll just touch on the jist here: I want to actually like running, but every time I've tried I've hated it. I have come to realize that maybe I've been giving running the short of it, never really giving it a chance. So co-opting the format and success of 1k/day, I'm going to run 1 kilometer a day in October. 1k a day. Get it? :P
Non-fitness related, because I feel like everything I write about lately has been fitness related, I applied for a water meter reader position yesterday. It requires several miles of walking daily. Outside. It's also a bit of a pay cut, but you know what, I will take that gladly if I get to be active on a daily basis and still receive the squishy City benefits. Oh, and have a job. Kai likes having a job.
I'm also applying to work weekends at the JC Penney photo studio (and Sears, too, if they're hiring). After getting the car and cats fixed and paying for crossfit, it would be real nice to have some extra money. And since Lady has so much to do between classes and research that she feels pressured to go on the weekends for hours at length, it's probably a good idea for me to get out of the house as well. Plus, wedding next year for which we haven't really had a chance to save. Plus, I would really like to have experience actually working with people in photography. People I don't know. All that really scary stuff that I keep freezing up on and which bombed my attempt at a business last year.
Phew. All those words and I've only just applied. We'll see where it actually goes and whether I actually get the job.
The other 1k/day is going smoothly. I've got my zombie assassins and I'm holding them close. Although I still cannot decide what to do with this gold watch. Hmm.
