Day 13 - Somewhere you'd like to move or visit
In contrast to my going on yesterday in the car about how desperately much I would like to go visit Seattle this August (Greenlake and blueberries and crumpets and mountains and rain forests and -), the Next Big Awesome Place I'd like to move to or visit is Denver. Weird, huh? I'm not entirely certain where that first came from - possibly through Charlotte Geary, whose blog I've been following for a bit, possibly because of the numerous times I've now been through that airport, possibly because Denver keeps popping up on "healthiest city to live in" and such lists, and possibly because I just really, really love mountains, and I would like to live somewhere where it gets really cold that isn't the Midwest or the Northeast.
Don't get me wrong - I still very much want to live in Seattle or the PNW again. But I also like the idea of doing one more stint living elsewhere first. Portland is pretty neat too, but Seattle has my heart.
Beyond moving, I would love to visit Rome and tour the Italian countryside, finding ruins and excavations and generally seeing all the spots I've read about as a Classics major. Living there would work, too, but I'd have to find a job or Lady would have to work internationally to afford us that reason to move.
But on the tippy top of my list for places to visit: Hadrian's wall. Not only would it be an excuse to drag Lady around upper England and lower Scotland, but apparently it's an amazing hike. Plus, England in the summer is very much like Seattle, except with more sheep. And moors. And less mountains.
My expectations for places to live have certainly been ratcheted up since living in PNW. xp
