spryng: (shocking)
Although cloudy everyday and pretty much raining half the time, this place warms the cockles of my soul with it's delicious coffee. Seriously. They know how it's done.
And! We have an apartment. Almost. Just need to fax in the applications and get the co-signing done (because neither of us can really prove we'll have a job when we get here yet) and we'll have an excellent 660sqft apartment with big windows and a balcony and a fireplace and a dishwasher and a washer/dryer and a walk-in closet and a heated pool and a mall within walking distance along with a target and a small grocery market and several bus lines. It was the second apartment we saw and we just couldn't shake how awesome it was. Not the cheapest, but the location and brightness makes up for that.
I'm excited, but also so scared. Coming here helped shatter all the lofty expectations that had been building up since January. It's much more real now. And much scarier. But Seattle's a good place. It really is beautiful and has excellent public transportation. There's so much around here, and farmer's markets everywhere. It's crazy. And every coffee shop has free wifi (except Starbucks).
But the first day really sucked. Delta doesn't have complimentary food aside from crackers anymore, so we went five hours in a plane without anything but crackers and then were further dumb and staved off eating at the airport to get the car and then it took half an hour to get to the hotel area and then forever to find a parking place so by the time we actually ordered food I had to go out and put more money in the car which was still really far away and it was raining and cold and I had left my jacket in the car in Tampa and so I was very cold and hungry and it just sucked. But everything after that was so much better. Most of the apartment people were pretty nice (except for the first one, who was showing a condo). And, well, we found something, so we're good.
Going to spend this morning in one of Seattle's big parks and then we need to be at the car rental place by 1:30pm. We get into Tampa at 6am tomorrow. baaugh.
