Good morning. We're in San Diego visiting family and I forgot to bring my journal with me, but - alas- HabitRPG compels me to journal regardless. It's a small habit I'd been trying to get going since last year's January, and which through &Kathleen's Creatives course and HabitRPG has finally been achieved.

But that also means I need to keep it up. >> Achievements first!

Things have been going - I keep having a difficult time getting up the energy to lift in the morning, but for some reason I'm gung-ho to go on my lunch period. That doesn't make much sense to me, except maybe I've gotten used to having a looong slooow morning with a pot of tea and my journal. Also it's just hard to get going when you don't have a class waiting for you.

We're still planning on returning to Crossfit come May, but that's over two months out yet, and I need to work on my strength goals. I'm finally getting somewhere after plateauing throughout December and January. My press has rocketed up in the past two weeks - I can now strict press 80# for five! Aaaah! I remember when I could barely press 75# for one. My deadlift hasn't budged much, and my squat is finally back to where it was. I would love to have it at 165# for five before we return to Crossfit, but man squats are hard.

All this strength work - I need to set aside a weekend for finding my one rep maxes. I'm awfully curious as to where my press and bench are now.

Other good things: I have been querying somewhat consistently. A few every few days. Slow and steady, I keep telling myself. I've also gotten more responses this time around instead of just a bunch of no's by lack of response. Some of them were clearly forms, but some were hard to tell and pretty encouraging. Still no bites, but I've only sent out maybe 10 or 15 total since the beginning of February. I have until the end of Feb to exhaust my list, and a lot of agents have 4-6 week response times. So.

I have also been aiming for consistency in my edits. While I have been at least looking at them on a daily basis, I haven't been doing quite enough. I came up with a plan for GW, stuffed the existing plot into a synopsis to figure out how to trim and fix it, and have had some blinding insight as to what to do with it. But I'm still having a hard time moving forward with those fixes. :/ I set myself a goal of May to finish, with daily edit counts to hit starting tomorrow. I hope that will help.

What doesn't help is that I've been blindsided by another story and have had to write out at least the first scene before I can let it go. Gah. Bad timing. Come back in May, little story. I'll need you then.

That's about it in the achievements bucket. Today, my main goal is to get enough food cooked to survive the week and have a few minutes this evening to relax and squish cat faces. We still have to drive home, too. If by some miracle I have time to write, then I hope to seize that time by the balls.
