Tuesday, June 26, 2012 DITL

I forget it's a DITL day until I'm already awake and I have my laptop open. Coffee time!

Also cat harassment time.

Pick up a snack because I don't feel like making breakfast just yet.

Time for coffee and writing!

Set a timer... for some reason, having a timer ticking away my minutes keeps me on track much better than just a set time point.

Already out of time! But I got a solid two pages re-written, so I'm feeling good about things.

The table cat has changed again. They really like our new table.

Wake up Lady, then do some much overdue chores.

Now I'm ready to make breakfast, although I'm still not ready to eat it.

The cats are more than ready to eat theirs.

Bring morning to our friend Doug's bird. We're watching her until she gets back from whichever fantastic foreign land she's running around.

Fresh food and water for the bird...

Seems appreciative enough. For a bird.

Can't put off getting myself ready any longer.

BPAL of the day. Considering its name, this one is particularly sweet. Putridly so. Hmm. Maybe it is appropriate.

Ready enough.

Throw the food into containers, stack 'em up for easy portage, and - what's that??

Set the temp - even at 80, it'll still be a lot cooler than outside when we get home.

It's a biking day for Lady, so she gets herself ready.

One more chore before we go - recyclables!

The clear sky is deceptive - the humidity is wretched this morning.

Heading for the bus stop...

Read as I wait. Currently reading It Starts with Food, which is the new book about the Whole30. I've done the program multiple times, but was curious to see whether or not the book would be good to recommend out.

On the bus! I experiment with taking a photo on my phone.

Now it's breakfast time. Eggs and turkey bacon on gf rice bread.

Get ready for the actual work - listening to Stephen King's On Writing today.

Break for some green tea.

...and a small snack.

On my actual break, I head outside and write a bit more.

Then come back in and make some earl gray. For some reason, I'm really dragging this morning.

Check the weather at the beginning of my lunch break. Clouds?! There's a 30% chance of rain today. I start getting hopeful.

Can't stop looking up - so many clouds!

I try to write on my lunch break, but the humidity is so high and I'm so uncomfortably sticky-hot that I just read some articles then head back.

CLOUDS.

Once back, I fill up a cup with ice and some water and check the radar. CLOUDS!

Then I actually eat lunch, because who eats lunch on their lunch break? Zucchini noodles with eggs and a creamy cucumber thing.

Finish the audiobook and start up my limited musical playlist. The audiobook was good, although, like the Dark Tower, it got a bit weird at the end.

It's cloud and dark on my afternoon break. I spend it glued to the radar.

At 3:34pm, someone says "IT'S SPRINKLING!" Everyone runs to the windows. Rain is obviously sweeping in from the west.

It's dark when I head out for the bus and dark when I get off of it. It's starting to sprinkle a bit on the way home. I'm growing inordinately excited.

This is the best part about summer: rain. Also, the wind. And the absence of the sun beating you down.

Check the mail; it still hasn't started raining. I'm beginning to lose hope - a lot of the time the rain gets stuck on the mountain or heads north without hitting us.

Time check - I dawdled a bit on the walk home to watch the clouds.

Small dinner - ham + applesauce + almonds + kale & cabbage slaw.

Then I figure out our workout for the evening. It's a back and hamstring night, so RDLs and good-mornings top my list.

Still hungry, I have a handful of coconut flakes.

Then I actually read through the mail. What is this??

...set the coffee for tomorrow...

...wait at the window for Lady to come home... I worry a little about her biking with all those clouds.

Putter around the apartment and finally decide to clean and refill the hummingbird feeder.

Yay!

Then I run off to LA Fitness to do strength work with

And pull-ups. I may have fallen in love with the pull-up assist machine. Makes me feel like a badass.

Come home, check on the bird.

Download the next audiobook.

Have a cup of milk because I'm FAMISHED. Not pictured: a second cup of milk.

And the last wedge of dark chocolate.

Cooked up some fish, cleaned up in general, and then it's well past my bedtime.

...but we still putter around online in the dark for a while.
