So I'm starting a second whole30 today (for reasons laid out here), despite the fact that the timing means no candy corn at all for NaNoWriMo. I am only slightly twitchy at the prospect, versus what would have been full on homicidal last year. No candy corn?! Well, okay. I can go a year without candy corn.

I'm trying to make it all better by looking at all these races I can do in the next year. I have now run 2.5 miles not once, not twice, but at least three times and I will hit 3 miles before November. So I'm definitely signing up for the Thanksgiving Cross-Country Classic on the 24th as soon as I have a chance to swing by the registration place. But now I'm also eying their other runs. Saturday morning I woke up at 5am and thought, "gee, this is the perfect time to drive to Sabino Canyon and run there." And so I did. I didn't manage more than my 2.5, but I did leave with a new goal to someday run the length of Sabino Canyon after achieving my 5k. That's a good 7 miles, at least, which is only a bit longer than a 10k.

And, of course, I discover today that they've got a race for that. Seven miles by April? Oh, I think I can do that.
