List of Crazy/Awesome Things, Mostly Terrifying

I gave myself homework last week in my letter. It's due today.

To reiterate, this is my list of all the awesome and scary things I want to do/go/see in the next five years. It's not a bucket list, but it's also not a list of goals. Some of these are part of my N Steps Towards Self-Embetterment and (Eventual) World Domination. Some of these are for kicks and giggles. And some of these are things I just really want to do before we leave Tucson and/or "settle down," whatever the hell that really means. In my mind, it's attaching ourselves to a specific property through the age-old ritual of going into debt.

Anyway: The List of Crazy-Awesome Things, Most of Which are at Least Somewhat Terrifying

  • Finish a book a year, including editing. Already halfway there this year

  • Get the fuck married. Scheduled for Sept 2012

  • Which includes: announcing said marriage to whole of family. Immediate family down, everyone else to go

  • Go to Scotland and hike Hadrian's Wall. Currently planned for next summer

  • Rock climb on actual rocks.

  • Babysit a kid for friend or sister-in-law.

  • Get fit and stay fit. Started three weeks ago, just have to keep at it

  • Learn how to sew and actually sew something useful. Started on storage boxes, we'll see how that goes

  • Learn Spanish.

  • Do something big you've never done before every year. Like dance lessons or volunteering or overnight hiking.

  • See a new part of AZ every year before you leave, places like the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Sedona.

  • Attend a con. Preferably San Diego Comic Con or World Con.

  • Keep doing NaNoReadMo and figure out how to make it more awesome each year.

  • Don't stress out.

  • Be more spontaneous, with both small, day-to-day things and LIFE in general.

  • Go out stargazing.

  • Watch a meteor shower.

  • Visit Kitt Peak.

  • Take advantage of that fact that you live in a freaking awesome desert.

  • Establish a zen hobby, or something I can do every day and think at the same time. Like knitting, or sewing, or running.

  • Find a job that combines my life priorities: creating and helping people.

  • Visit family and friends.

  • Connect with extended family.

Some of that is purposefully vague. But that's okay at this point. I'm going to come back and address each one of these and see how best I can break it down into measurable, attainable chunks. I also may amend as needed, since I only had a week to put this together. And things change.
