Sometimes it Rains in the Desert

We've got spring! The ocotillo are amazing, with their seaweed goodness and bright orange flowers, the prickly pear have alternately yellow and purple glossy, plasticky blooms, the palo verde are bright with tiny yellow blossoms, and the saguaros are just starting to bud on top. I imagine an outing is in order for next weekend, somewhere between Doctor Who and more Doctor Who.

So you can probably guess one of the exciting things about this week. Hint: It starts with a 'D' and ends with an '-octor Who.' We are hoping to have a sort of party for the beginning of Season Six, complete with probably blue decadents and fezzes, or at least bow ties. Even without a party I am so looking forward to this weekend.

Thinking about which has distracted me slightly from my excitement about going home tonight and having some tea/caffeine and just playing straight through Portal 2. That whole ARG thing Valve had going on was way too highly successful in my books; I hadn't been absolutely tearing at the bit for the new game, content to wait until their eventual summer sale, but then that all went down and well, you could have found me gazing at the count-down clock, willing those numbers away, too many times this weekend. Curse you Valve and eating up all my productivity this weekend through your starchy distractions.

Therefore I'm not as far in editing as I really need to be. This week is buckle down week in that respect. You might have noticed the total pages ticking up from 88 to 90 to 106. It will probably go up to 120 by the time I finish, but I'm shying away from working with a projected wordcount because for every two pages I write new, I'm deleting 1.5 pages. Glgh. Of course, non-manuscript pages. So I don't really know what they translate to in real pages. Err... word-wise, it's just edged over 61k, I have an expectation of hitting 75k when it's done, and I do about 1k and have to delete 750 of that? There. Translated for you. :D

I blind you with a metric!!

57 / 106 pages

Yeah, you weren't expecting that.
